I've searched kde brainstorm for this subject but didn't find it.

For now in dolphin & konqueror there is no service for quickly setting a desktop wallpaper (for files) and slidshow (for folders).

So here I have some examples (nothing new ,I know:)

Wallpaper:
Image

Slideshow:

I like a reimplementation of "Set as wallpaper" as in KDE 3 series, i think an "Add folder to desktop slideshow" option can be nice/usefull, but only if there is an automatic control if there are images in the folder.

Instead i don't understand the benefit of a "Remove folder..." option.

However

This looks like a natural thing to do through a servicemenu.

Proudly dual-booting openSUSE 11.1 with KDE 4.3 and Windows Vista on a Toshiba A205-S4577 since July 2007.

I\'m the only one who voted against lol.
I don\'t think it\'s a great feature, we don\'t set wallpapers everyday so why would we put it in context menu? It just congest the context menu in my opinion.

But in konqueror it\'s different it could be usefull because image you see when you surf is not on your computer and then a simple click.

Yes in konqueror, no in dolphin.

I do not agree, it is a natural thing to have, and beginners often ask me how to set the selected picture as wallpaper.
Set as wallpaper would appear only when images are selected
And for folders(slideshow) item in "action submenu" could do the trick.

How about the current solution - drag and drop to the desktop, a popup appears asking you what to do with it (including allowing to set the image as wallpaper). Seems good enough?!?

I don't do sigs.

That is not intuitive enough but still better than going to desktop settings.
Why would anyone have problem with the proposal in the first place...?

PS
I am using KDE 4.3 and that feature is not implemented, so why do you call it \'current\' solution?

If you use a Folderview Desktop then it is a current solution. If not, you only get the choice between Picture Frame and Icon

I think the original post is a good idea, but the options should be placed in a sub-menu of, perhaps, \'Actions\' to keep the main option menu from feeling cluttered.
