Libre.fm is completly free and opensource alternative for Last.fm. It would be very nice if Amarok would support it. Especially now, when last.fm started to take money for their services, and users have need for alternatives.

It seems like a good idea for open source to support open source. Further, it seems a little hypocritical for an open source project not to support another. We need to "eat our own dog food."

I'm using Amarok and I'm multi scrobbling to both libre.fm and last.fm. This is fantastic. If multi scrobbling can be added to the main branch good for me and others for the sake of simplicity for the users..
Anyway...users can still use the instructions at: http://bugs.libre.fm/wiki/Client_Suppor ... tiscrobble This is not just for Amarok. I couldn't make the Rhythmbox plugin 'scrobblefree' to work with Rhythmbox on Debian Lenny, but Amarok with Banana Bob's plugin works! (what I'm using right now!) |

This will probably not be picked up by the main Amarok devs, but if someone submitted a patch they might add it. It just seems to me like the main devs are focusing more on the central features of Amarok and less on the services. Last.fm gets more attention than normal, I think, because two of the devs used to work there.

So what's the problem? Is anyone stopping me or anyone else from giving a helping hand?

currently I use Qmmp which supports multiscrobbling to both libre.fm and last.fm.
Since my collection got bigger over the time I would like to use Amarok for organizing it and it would be a lot cooler if I could scrobble to both services with Amarok too.
pano, proud to be a member of KDE forums since 2008-Nov.

There is an amarok plugin available:
