Currently, the notification system notifies the user with multiple bubbles. I actually like this idea if and only if those bubbles are of different kind. Different kind by which I mean: applications status, communications, system services, etc. However if it shows multiple notifications/bubbles of the same kind, this is where a desktop experience gets ruined. Imagine 5 or more bubbles piling up to the top of your screen when it's only purpose is to notify you that 5 more of your contacts(from kopete) are now online/offline. It's very annoying. This is my problem with todays notification system. It's actually nice and I like it but it would be better if it would only show one bubble at a time if the notifications it would show are of the same kind/category... I hope I explained my point clearly. Thanks for reading... =)
Update: show one bubble at a time for the same kind of notification. So this won't, in any way, hinder other important notifications from being shown...

Even more. When popup got away and something new happened the old popup shows too. Which feels very weird.

If you meant "something new" is another kind of notification, than it should not be problem. It should be shown together with the queued-status-update. I think I made this clear in my idea. However if there are other weirdness that MAY occur, I'd rather have it than having a desktop that's completely unusable for an unknown period of time...

I'm not sure what you actually implying now. I voted you idea up actually.
I'm just saying that old popups should not popup out of the blue unless they are finished. Which 'show one bubble at a time' is supposed to help with AFAIU.

~_^ I didn't get you at first. I thought you were implying that my idea would have that flaw you mentioned... Thank you!
