What about a plug-in that will enable the user to import the birthdays of his facebook friends to Korganizer and then display them on the "Upcoming Special Events" section of the Summary tab on Kontact? Something like the facebook image importer plug-in supplied by Kipi to digiKam.

You can exports the facebook birthday calendar in a .ics file (http://www.facebook.com/apps/applicatio ... 2444662219) then add the calendar in systemsettings-> personal information->kde resources.

But a plugin would be awesome!

A plugin would also allow updating automatically the birthday information when new friends are added/removed or when someone does not provide birthday details at first but then changes his mind.

Hi, the facebook resouce was recently merged into kdepim-runtime and will be released with 4.11. It has support for friends, events, posts and notifications. If you want contact's birthdays in your KOrganizer/Kontact/Plasma Calendar, you also need to add "Birthdays and Anniversaries" resource to Akonadi and that will automatically populate Akonadi with birthdays
