Dear Staff!
Whenever user types a query into the search box, global search appears even if she (currently) uses the forum for just one application. Then even if someone reads the FAQ and goes with Advanced Search (Hey, this is users forum, not for KDE developers...) to carefully select forums of interest out of dozens of irrelevant ones, these settings will disappear soon. There are more issues like this - imaging issues with German forum when English entries appear - why should the user deal with English messages and content in the first place? Our forums do not scale here, and let's discuss what to do with that. One idea is to provide the common database but allowing multiple KDE sites to access it, thus filtered by default. E.g. - forum.calligra.org would work as expected - it would include only calligra forums; - forum.kde.org.pl would work as expected - it would include only Polish KDE forums (insert your ideas here) Also a somehow important flaw in the whole approach is that the desktop is merged with apps, while KDE apps are expected to be running e.g. on vanilla Ubuntu without problems, so we (at least I and my coworkers) expect that there may be users not interested to see any trace of specialized forums (KWin/Plasma, etc.) in order to find a forum for the used KDE app. |

This should be fixed now, below your forumlist (wherever you are) you have a search box which shows "Search this forum...". And it provides a quick search for the current and all subforums. For some further explanation for interested parties. The big link on top just shows you the advanced search. And then always visible right above the main area there is a global quick search. The third search is forum specific.

Sorry I cannot locate the text "Search this forum...". Even if I could - two search boxes - one on the top, second on the bottom - this is getting quite complicated experience...

How about a button with a dropdown list, similar to the "Reply to topic" button? By default it acts as the current button, but clicking on the down arrow gives you the option to "Search this forum" and, if you're reading a topic, "Search this topic".
Not sure if this is possible by the way.

suggestion - how about the the search field displayed is context aware with the search context displayed in the search box
On the board index page it is/says "search all forums" On a forum page it is/says "search this forum" On a thread page it is/says "search this thread" and it has a drop down that allows other searches to be selected, if not possible then the box is context aware and other searches are initiated by the "find" at the top of the page |

Very good, UX-wise. Plus: on a subforum page it is/says "search this forum" too. |
