Using the Forum recently, I tried to use an exclamation mark, but only saw a simple vertical line, which might have been an OR symbol, or alternatively a lower case L. A preview of the message showed the symbol in exactly the same way.
Is there a reason for this (reducing the fury of contentious replies, perhaps [insert exclamation mark here]), or will I one day be able to use an exclamation mark in a message? Regards, petern (Former newspaper webmaster) |

Not sure what you mean. Why would we strike out exclamation marks? Only thing that i could imagine is that on certain resolutions the font we use here might display an excamation mark that is similar to an OR or l. But it is clearly not intended to strike that sign entirely out.

Could you please post a link to a topic where your post has been censored in some manner?
To my knowledge we do not block exclamation marks in any automated manner.

I didn't actually use the exclamation mark, because it was clear it wasn't working at my end.
However, here's one: ! |

It appears that this is caused by the font we are using on the forum. There is a slight perceptible difference at the bottom which differentiates it from a | or lower case L. I verified this by copy and pasting the text into KWrite, where it was rendered appropriately.
Not sure what we can do about this other than change the font...

@google01103:
The rekonq screenshot shows an incorrect font, likely a fallback. You can notice it by comparing the "Q" and the "g". |
