In order to avoid duplicates posts or that the same question is asked again and again, I would suggest to use an automatic search.
This means when one clicks new topic and starts typing in the subject field, the forum is searched as-you-type for words in the subject. Examples would be the KDE bug tracker (example link) or ask.libreoffice.org. This way there would be less work for volunteers, but also better user satisfaction. Since it is generally faster to read through a post with the same problem (and solution) then to phrase and type the problem all by self and then wait for an answer. |

The idea is not bad at all. It just lacks someone with time writing a plugin doing this.
Are you volunteering? |

Since this is a phpBB forum, aren't there already a lot of plugins for this software available? I would volunteer to look for such, but I would need some hints, i.e. some keywords and some places to look. |

I asked on the phpBB forum, if there is a Mod for this:
Automatic search-as-you-type Search upon New Topic creation? Lets see what they answer. |

Looks like they are a little conservative over there (or at least some persons ...).
Well, but this is what I found: [RC] Prime Subject Check Not so nice as in the examples and it still would need some customization. Or we look for a web-programmer in the kde community... BTW: Is there a test forum of the KDE forums (ie a second forum where you can try out MODs)? |

We have a sandbox, at sandbox.forum.kde.org.
