Apper - no icons in software list

Wed Mar 04, 2015 8:18 am
Hi, I just installed Wheezy and KDE 4.8.4 on about two years old hardware. I am not going to mention the really stupid problems I have on other two machines with Skype and sound after every and each update - I should not and I do not care about the reasons - it is frustraiting at the least.
My problem is (are) very simple: on this new install each time I want install new software through the new and annoying Apper it asks me now for the root password rather then as before for the user password. How do I change the security so I am not asked for root password which by principle is long and complex. I do not know about all the groups and different security levels. Could one of your learnet friends just give me a hint where should I add my user name to be able to install new software please?

Apper - each time I start it the first page with the software groups looks nice and very promising, however, when I click on a group (eg. Science) Apper displays just a bare list with no - very handy icons to the left. I tried to remove/purge Apper and reinstall to no avail. I get just a few icons on the left (I guess are those of installed software) but I'd say 95% on all list have just the text no icons. Is this just issue on my install or what? I could not find reference to this problem anywhere.

Thanks for your kind help.
