Hello KDE, hope you doing well
I encountered a problem trying to login to my KDE account (not this I'm using now), that is that I forgot my username and there is no option for that, there is only reset password option. because some people forget their usernames but almost never forget their email because is a static thing not like a username.
is this really happening or I missed something.

Thanks & Regards,

I find it quite strange to forget a username, most people I know in the Free Software world use their nickname, and maybe another one or two usernames, but those really are rarely forgotten. Did you consider using a password manager to help you with that? It makes much more sense to use different passwords on different sites, but using many usernames seems a bit tedious to me.

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

Hi. I will forget mine, because that one I use everywhere was not allowed: a-z only.

Its also common to forget usernames for sites/services you only use rarely. When it just happens to be your usual or one of your usual usernames, then sure, THEN it's easy to remember. But that's not the situation "Forgot username" features are for. Sometimes when you register at a site, your usuals are already taken, or you might go with something different just because.

Password managers are certainly one option, but like any piece of software, they are all going to have their limits or downsides or bugs or whatnot. And at the end of the day, a "Forgot username" is just simply far better UX than "should've used a password manager" (which I fully realize is not what you said).

It would be a nice feature.

There is always the possibility to write to the KDE Sysadmins with the mail you use on Identity. Since sysadmin@kde.org is a mailing list, don't post private details there, ask for help and somebody will get in touch. Or open a ticket here: https://go.kde.org/systickets
