audacity install and functional  Topic is solved

Mon Jan 13, 2020 3:26 am
I have tried to install both options provided for Audacity on Discover. The flatpak will not load ( "aborted do to failure") and the Ubuntu universe does not record. I have installed the flatpak version on Kubuntu and it works fine when handled in the same way.

Thanks very much for your time and efforts. Greatly appreciated.

Audacity is not KDE software, you should ask the distribution if there is a packaging problem, as we don't do packaging at all.

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

Thanks for your response. What confuses me is how it works on Kubuntu but not here. It may be a 19.10 compatibility problem but if so I would like to know if others are experiencing the same problem in running audacity. I gather it is a popular program. Then I could speak with some knowledge when speaking to the producer of the app.
Thanks again.

Define "doesn't work here", what do you mean by here? If it is Neon you are talking about, that is not really a surprise, as Neon is not a distribution but a Plasma showcase, it doesn't guarantee any non-KDE applications will work.

You should go with Kubuntu instead of Neon if you want a full Linux distribution.
