Searching this forum is annoying

Sun Apr 12, 2009 8:18 am
I find searching this forum limited and annoying because I can't search for words with 2 or 3 characters.

I know words like "in", "on", "at", "the", etc. are common, but there are a lot of two and three letter words that are not common and have a real significance in searching.

For example, I wanted to know if someone posted something about CAD software.
Searching for "CAD" resulted in the forum telling me that the word is too short.

This forum does not have any limits set. BUT we are using mysql full text search, and this has a hard limit of 4 chars, unfortunately.
So that would mean changing the mysql server itself.

Same problem for me, I guess I mentioned it earlier, but I am not able to search for threads related to my product ark with the current forum because of this.
I was told before that there was going to be a tag system or something like this that was going to fix this, how is this coming along?

With other much needed changes, it was pushed back a bit.

We'll try to get that done soon.
