Change Avatar

Wed Sep 02, 2009 1:14 pm
I am still trying to change my avatar from a kubuntu one to an opensuse one, but have been unable to do it as of yet!
Tried in windows, but no luck. Have asked for help, but no one has offered any yet!

If anything springs to mind, let me know please!

The avatar i am talking about, is the one you see above my username everytime I post anything on here. I have a KDE 4 avatar at the moment, but want to change it to another, probably an opensuse or KDE/opensuse one.

How can I do that?

@assassin66:
User Control Panel -> Profile -> Edit avatar.

Thanks Hans! That worked a treat, and solved the problem I had in 30 seconds!
Now I know how to do such a simple thing, that I should have known already! I am curious about some people have other avatars in their posts, mostly the black horizontal bar with KDE Community on it, and the users name on the other.
Do I go the same way about getting something like this?

That's the signature: User Control Panel -> Profile -> Edit signature. You can use the [img] tag to attach a picture, as long as it follows our .

In the future, don't hesitate to create a new topic (preferable under Feedback & Questions) for such questions.

How do I put an image in as my signature? I have one in mind, but cant copy it from my pc for some reason. I tried clicking on img and then typing the place where it is on my pc, but wasnt successful in getting it to appear, and so still just have text, instead of the image I wanted up.
I appreciate any help with this, like with anything else you have helped me with!

You have to upload it somewhere before, e.g. imageshack, imagehost, omploader etc.
You should get BBCode that looks something like this:
Code: Select all
[url=http://img74.imageshack.us/i/cakey.jpg/][img]http://img74.imageshack.us/img74/4926/cakey.jpg[/img][/url]

Remove the [url=...]...[/url] tags if you don't want the image to link anywhere.

I tried to upload the image i wanted to imageshack, then insert it from there. It worked, but the image was much smaller than i wanted it! I know there is a limit on the size of signatures, but how can i make sure the image remains the same size?

Oh right.. imageshack makes a thumbnail of the image, sorry about that. You should be able to use the first link (Direct link to image) and put that URL between [img]and[/img].

As you can see, I managed to get the correct link form imageshack, instead of the thumbnail you mentioned.
This time, I tried them all until I got the one I wanted!

Thanks again!
