The translation course is now in progress, and we have already laid out plans for the next Klassroom. In particular, with the next session we will focus on writing documentation for UserBase, KDE's knowledge base for end users.
The aim of this class is to make potential contributors familiar and comfortable with the tools of mediawiki editing and the layout of a typical UserBase page. Are you interested? You can help if any of the following requirements is met:
The course will begin on January 9th and will last approximately one week. Up to 5 students can participate: if there is enough demand, this course will be repeated at a later date. The introduction will provide all the tools necessary for most needs, and annew will be available to assist with any problems or questions. |

Please inform me of the next step to take in order to participate in the Userbase Editing Klassroom.
I consider myself a user without developer skills.

Hi. Later in the week you'll be given a link to an Introduction page, telling you more about the course and helping you think about the page you will create.

Hi,
I would like to sign on I'm a developer and want to create a user base page for my crossword game KrossWordPuzzle. It's currently in playground and also available via kde-apps.org, where I already have some text. I also already started creating the user base page (http://userbase.kde.org/User:Fpuelz), but it's rather quick and dirty for now, because I wanted to wait for the Klassroom first. Happy new year Friedrich |

Hi Friedrich. I already had KrossWordPuzzle on my list of pages that I'd like to see You look to be gathering a good set of resources on your user page, so when the course starts we'll look at organising them into a page consistent with the rest of UserBase.

Hey! Sign me up, please. I've always thought that the KDE docs are in a pathetic state, and I really want to do something about it.

Good morning,
count me in too, please. I think i'm a category 1 guy (well, maybe parts of cat 2 either...), means: a non-coder, but with ambitions, to help KDE rule the world...

Welcome, Alejandro and BelaLugosi. We had planned to keep the number of students to 5, but we'll stretch it this time to include both of you.
While this makes up the first group, anyone else interested should also sign up here, and we'll re-run the course in a few weeks.

OK, folks. Time to start preparation An introduction to the course is now posted at http://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=75&t=83879. That gives you a couple of days to take a look at the pages referenced there, and to think about what you will do for your first page. The suggested topics have all been chosen because they don't need a long, complex page - the development tools, for instance, will only need a brief description of purpose, then a link to techbase.
Take your time choosing - think of this as your 'Hello, world' project. When you are happy with the first page you can choose something more complex if that's where your interest lies. From now on, all communication should be as replies to that introduction page. That makes sure that everyone knows what everone else is working on, and that all benefit from reading questions and answers. See you there!
