After one year of using KDE I still miss feature from Amiga world. Every time I want to open Dolphin I double clicking on desktop. This behavior is implemented in Directory Opus 5 for Amiga-like systems, in Directory Opus 6-12 for Windows, in Ambient for MorphOS. I think it's not too difficult to add mouse action to desktop settings.

This certainly would be easy to implement, true. But I think that would be a very bad idea.

There already are a ton of options to fast open any application you want:
- keyboard shortcuts
- gestures
- quick lauchners
- context menues
- ...
All of that is not enough?

Implementing a hard wired shortcut to a specific application might make sense for you personally. But for many many others it would be an annoying thing. KDE is about flexibility. A hard wired shortcut does not fit into that picture, sorry.

Unfortunately, I am not very familiar with keyboard shortcuts. Yes, I know "meta+E", but I use mouse at first.

I don't understand how to use it.

ATM I use side panel to start Dolphin. This is useful when the window takes up the entire screen, but when desktop is available, more faster to open new Dolphin's views by doubleclicking on empty screen.

Not necessary to make a hard wired shortcut to start Dolphin. I think it is possible to make assign to any action (start any application, for example), so anybody could set what he (she) want.

Assuming you're using the default Folder View desktop, you can right-click on the desktop and select Open in Dolphin.
You could also pin the Dolphin icon to your taskbar (the right-click menu includes jumping points to open specific places or recent documennts as well as just opening a new instance), or even add a browseable folder-view widget to the panel.

That said, it could be nice to add double-click to the list of available mouse triggers in Configure Desktop > Mouse Actions, as well as add Launch Application to the available actions. Then you could configure it to launch Dolphin upon double-clicking on the desktop.

You are right. Your proposal fully describes what I wanted to say.
I'll make new post in which I will offer your wording.
This topic can be moved into "Wontfix" category.
