Problem: I constantly activate the Shift-Lock key by tapping on it uncontrolled and unwillingly AND - even worse - I do not recognize it.
Solution (avoid): On the old Amiga Shift-Lock could only be activated if you click shift and shift-lock together. This was a good thing and should be used in KDE too. Solution 2 (at least recognize): It would also be great if you could activate keyboard sounds for all keys or special keys like shift-lock, so you can hear if you tap it accidentally. Perhaps it would be a thing if you could potentially freely connect an individual sound to every key on the keyboard (defaul: the same sound, if you like, different ones you prefer). Both ideas have their own charm, so both would be a good thing for improved feedback of what you're doing. |

To permanently disable caps-lock, add this to your .bashrc (if you use bash):
xmodmap -e "remove lock = Caps_Lock" To be true, it's not a complete solution to your problem but at least it avoids the unintentional activation of caps-lock. But I think your idea is really two ideas. Solution 1 is a specific solution, while two is more of a "improve user feedback by audio generally". Please keep to one idea per topic, or the idea can't be approved. IMO, solution 2 is not strictly connected to the problem since it potentially has other use-cases as well, or be seen as overkill for a relatively easy problem. In short: it would be easier to approve this idea if solution 2 was posted as an individual idea or removed from this idea.

I do not want to disable caps-lock in bash but on the complete desktop. We're talking about KDE here, am I right?
And I am sure I am not the only one...

But the tip above does that. It's only started by bash, but the disabling applies to Kate, Konsole, Firefox, Konqueror, OpenOffice, and everything else as well. I have yet to find a program that doesn't obey that setting actually.
