The split view available in Dolphin is nice, but i think it should be expanded to unlimited multiple panes.
In Konqueror, it's so convenient to open multiple panes in one window, point each to a different directory, and then move my files. I usually do this for backup. When backing up my cartoon work, I'd open three or four panes, and then navigate to the different drives (internal and external) and then simply drag my main file to those backup locations. It would enhance Dolphin's usability. The split pane view is terrific. But many folks run multiple drives for storage and backup. It's not unusual to have three or four drives plugged in via USB or SATA. That's going to result in a lot of window clutter. If Dolphin had the same ability to split in to multiple panes, like Konqueror, it would definitely help streamline file navigation and keep the desktop clean. |

Dolphin developers have already stated that this is advanced functionality they want to restrict to konqueror. If you need this function please use konqueror instead.
