Hey people,

I just had the problem that I needed to mount an iso-image. I had to install an extra program for this. Then I thought, why can not the device-notifier handle this?

There could be a section "Virtual Devices". In the device notifier settings one could set a folder for iso-images. If an iso-image or a simlink to an iso-image is in that folder it appears in the device notifier. One could also configure there if it is automatically mounted at system start or whether it is writeable or not. There would be also a menu allowing to add new virtual devices (move iso or create a simlink). But Dolphin should also have a context menu for that allowing to "create virtual Device (Simlink)" and "create virtual device (move iso)".

I posted this in bugs.kde.org years ago and they said it wasn't the purpose of the device notifier so they won't implement it.
