Border magnatism a la (hope the flikker link works..)
Maybe the image will be displayed when the idea is validated, checking it's relevancy? (It's a nice picture!)

Could you explain in words what "Border magnatism" and "Windows deformator" are, it took awhile for me to understand the pic. Are they the same or is the pic 2 different effects - deformation (bad title) and border magnetism?
Seems to me the "deformation" would be limited by the type of window being "deformed" for example video and picture wouldn't "deform" well (as I understand it) |

Deform may refer to slanting, so maybe the word is not descriptive. The window on the left is dented (all visible) by the 'collision' of the internet browser on the right. The result is non-overlapping windows and visible readable text, while viewing the contents of the window on the right.
(Deforming is applied to the containing window, not the contents, although text wrapping is applied as usual. Deforming may be done with (in response to) non-square 'skinned' applications.)

I really love this idea! It'd make having non maximized windows much easier to maintain. The thing I don't like is having the portion of the scroll bar move. I find scroll bars quite archaic as just about ever mouse or track pad has the ability to scroll. Other than that small aesthetic gripe I really hope this gets implemented!

Not really possible without changing *all* UI toolkits from ground up.

Marked as won't fix. Implementing this idea is not practical.

OK, marked as won't fix. Thanks for the comment ivan, that's clear. To bad though, that it requires an overall rewrite for the code.
If you'd allow me to test to insert this image from Google Docs, it won't flood your forum. I assume the following would require an equal global rewrite; While pressing a free Ctrl/Shift/Alt/Linux (or *nix, the 'Windows') key while dragging a window, it's nice to see the other window(s) pushed/cushioned around. Sadly without the denting..! Again I understand implementing this is not realistic and a mean feat. Thanks for having reviewed the possibility. {Edit 6:24} - This post appeared only after 'Shift+reload click' in Google Chrome. But then again I'm running Windows at the moment. (Although IE did show this comment.) - I have no luck with the 57 "Windows deformator.png" showing up. Flickr changed it to 268kB .jpg (and didn't check filesizes), with Google Docs no luck either. Will try in the future, when relevant, with Imageshack, Tinypic or Photobucket. (With a thumbnail.)

They are, but:
The first was a sloppy converted (by photo site Flickr) 268kB, I liked the original 57 kB png file better. I still wanted to try to get it displayed. I now know I should have used a thumbnail, to save on the KDE server time. (The picture dimensions implied that it wouldn't fit on screen without calculations made on the part of the KDE server.)
