Hy i think is very good idea to add posible to user can setup defalut file permissions - many users want 775 not 755,

this setup must change files local created and sftp / ssh files created.

Its so difficult to setup this and very many users (my friends ask my in first day of linux instalation)

isn't the process different for Linux, BSD and FreeBSD? Dependent also on the default shell used (cshell vrs bash)? see http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/securi ... umask/2704

is this something that should be handled by the distro, not the desktop environment?

ps your first tag should be "umask" not "umas"
