KRunner seems to exclusively display and sort by applications' generic name. This may be nice for some, but it makes it terrible to find applications whose name you know.

I don't have that problem on KDE 4.2. KRunner finds "kfind," "akregator," etc. without problems. Maybe this is the fault of your distribution?

You have ignore the contents of my post. I never said I couldn't search for kfind, etc. I said the menu does not allow me to display or sort by the specific name, as it did in KDE 3.5 |

I still don't quite understand. What exactly is the behavior you see? And how should it work instead? |

1. Open up KRunner 2. Go to 'Applicaitons' 3. Choose a category 4. Observe menu items The menu items have the generic name at the top, and the specific name at the bottom when you hover over it. I am saying, that like in KDE 3.5, I want the options to reverse that. Have you used KDE 3.5? |

it's kickoff, not krunner. krunner is what pops up when you press Alt+F2.
