Pretty much every mouse released in the last few years has had a back and forward button. Most web browsers and many file browsers support these buttons on most operating systems and have for years. KDE, however, has no support whatsoever for these buttons. I really think KDE should assign back and forward actions to the back and forward buttons at least in konqueror and dolphin but ideally throughout the system.

This is related to the infamous issue that KDE does not support shortcuts for anything except keyboards.

I know, but that is a more general thing while this is a single, very specific situation I think is particularly important. Making individual things like this work may be easier than a general overhaul of the shortcut system.
