I am one of many laptop users who love to use tapping on the touchpad when navigating content but get constantly frustrated with accidental taps that occur while typing.
Linux has a fix for this. The synaptic controller at least can be set to disable tapping while typing. One of the first things I do it try and work out how to enable this feature. Usually it means running syndaemon some time prior to or during X or session startup. See for example http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=434625 or one of the many threads google returns (http://www.google.com.au/search?q=linux ... =firefox-a) It seems to me that KDE should provide an interface for setting this and other really useful parameters for touchpads (such as multi-touch scolling, two finger tapping for right click etc). They would "fix" into the advanced tab of the current mouse control panel (though perhaps a separate touchpad panel would be better as the whole panel can be enabled is disabled depending on the existence of a touchpad). So far gnome offers litttle support for these features either. But they have a big usability impact.

Ok me and you Andre are in the same boat. I also use a laptop and got fedup of touchpad messing up typing I came across some old style configuration of enabling SHMConfig on or true but this did not work What has been working and is very very awsome is.. apt-cache search touchfreeze touchfreeze - tray icon that disables your touchpad while typing sudo apt-get install touchfreeze You then get a pad icon in systray double click it to extend the time in delay. I guess my suggesstion would be this is more of a distribution issue rather than KDE specific but if lets say kubuntu realises its a laptop from lets say detecting a touchpad then to install specific applications required to make laptop work with the desktop i.e. if latop install touchfreeze package. |

There should really be an interface for it.
Of course not all variables have to be shown but the most important like configurating the scroll behavior and tap duration and accelleration. It has to be changed immediatly and should also work after a x restart. (of course). So by combining synclient and editing the appropriate file should do the thing.
