when i plug in my mp4 player it appears as 2 identical 1GB removable media icons (player itself + micro sd card). no way to know which is what
add some difference for this case. for example removable device B removable device C1 (from their names /dev/sdb and /dev/sdc1) or removable device 4C removable device 5A (part of uuid) or removable device mp4 removable device hey (mountpoint folder name) |

Take a look at [Dolphin] Hierarchal Places for an alternative solution to this sort of problem.

It could be similar. There would be one icon for the whole device, and sub-icons for the two parts of the device. That way you could mount and unmount the whole device, as well as mount and unmount the two parts separately.

the problem i have is that both parts appearance is identical
when i want to get into the memory card quick i click one of them (say the top one) but it is randomly either the card or the player each time |

I agree with Ash.
Actually, it's not quite clear, just naming devices by their description. But well, the device notifier should ALSO implement the hierarchy of devices... both of them would be very usefull. |

I think all drives should be named this way. +1
