Hello,
if the mailing lists (like plasma-devel) would be integrated in the forum you could easily look through the history and post new \'mails\'. With "integrate" I mean that the mails of the lists are displayed in the forum and that forum posts are mailed to the mailing list. The mailing lists would exist as mailing lists. There could be a subforum "Mailing lists" and in that there could be subforums like "plasma-devel" and so on.
If the new post mechanism isn\'t possible a read-only would still be great.

And maybe there's an additional advantage:
Maybe some developers consider to use the forum instead of mailings lists, so maybe they have a look at some subforums, too (like Brainstorm or the forum to their software).

Why not flip it around as well. Allow people to simply reply to e-mails and it will be posted on the forum. It seems kind of pointless getting an email telling you there was a reply to your post when mailing lists are so much more convenient. But mailing lists are difficult to search and browse through and generally look hideous.

We did have an extension once that could track mail and post it to a forum. We have an extension now as well, but iirc, it needs some work before it can be used here. Overall, I personally like the idea.
