Just as Icons from old desktop , I suggest an option to select many plasmoids in the same time, by selected each one.
For example, when I want a nice Plasma Desktop, I need to align and resize manually my plasmoids.
I suggest to allow multiple selection of plasmoids. In this case, it's easy to move and align many plasmoids.

Otherwise, in the same point of view, it would be nice to have some options to align them by clicking right on desktop:
-set allignement
--- Align in a grid
--- allign in left collumns
--- allign in right collums

There's one problem:
Plasma-Containments can't be simply placed on the Desktop. It needs a lot of configuration "from outside" to make it possible to add widgets to sub-containments in a non-hackish way.
I think it would be better when containments would inherit the "add-widgets" dialog from their parent-containment. (for example the desktop)
