This is yet another usability post. And yes this a very well-known issue that's never been addressed up to now, afaik. It's the design flaw by MS and yet we still implement it in our very own DE. I know you get me, it's the close button that's given another role-- not to close. That's odd. So what's the solution? I know this issue have been in several discussions and therefore there have been many solutions that have been proposed. But I wasn't there when they happened and I feel so lazy digging what solutions that popped up. So I am proposing my own solution but this doesn't mean it's the best. This post also intends to spur discussion about the issue to come up with a better solution. So here's my take: In order to avoid confusion as to which button does what, why not add another button that allows application to minimize to the system tray? So instead of three buttons, there would be four buttons that acts uniquely. But this extra button should only be allowed to applications that are supposed to have it: kopete, amarok, kamail, etc. There you go, simple and easy! I hope this will be taken seriously by the devs. I really hate this usability flaw. Thanks for taking time to read.
