Plasma panels are great especially because they are flexible about how they are displayed (you can cutomize the size, width...). But I'm not completely satisfied with the hidding options. There is currently (kde4.3.1) 4 possibilities for the visibility of a panel :
-always visible -auto-hiding -windows can cover -windows goes under (it's probably not the exact terms in english because my desktop is in french) I most of the time use the always visible panel, which is good most of the time. But because this panel take space on the screen, I can't put big plasmoid in it. So I would like to have a second auto-hiding panel to put the big or less important stuff, like a digital clock, some sytem monitoring plasmoid and perhaps some other fancy plasmoids. But it's not working exactly like I would like : it's too easy to activate by error the panel while moving the mouse, and it's too much disturbance. So here is my proposal : add an option to have a slide in/out panel. If the panel is hidden, there would be only a small button visible on the edge of the screen. When I click on the button, the panel slide-out. There could also be a shortcut for keyboard addicts. This idea is taken from the main menu in android: |

In other words make KDE 4 panels behave like KDE 3 panels.
