KDE4's Panels can easily be created & docked to each screen border, and 'loaded' with app, widget & other icons.

I'd like to see the option of docking multiple Panels to a single screen edge, and organizing them by tabs -- with each tabbed-Panel serving as a 'drawer' in a 'cabinet' of Panels. Currently, it does not seem possible.

The very specific implementation I've got in mind is that of DragThing (http://www.dragthing.com/english/about.html
) -- an OSX-only utility. It's a brilliantly done piece of software (multiple award winner), very well designed and incredibly flexible and configurable.

As we migrate desktops from OSX to Linux/KDE4, it's been one of the utilities/capabilities most often missed -- and loudly complained about, as a result -- by our users.

As far as I can tell, there's nothing @ code level preventing KDE/Plasma/Panels from implementing something like this.
