I know there is a configurable kwin plug-in for transparency, but when enabled, the windows look ugly. I believe that blurring the border between the window border and the content should make it look nice.

This is a duplicate of brainstorm.php#idea62419 .

HOWEVER (Mod: don't lock this yet), the other idea has been locked for some reason so it might be a good idea to either unlock it, or to move all of the votes over to this idea.

Also, to add to the discussion, I think that KDE should go beyond blurring windows. What about making the window act like a "glass lens", basically distorting everything behind it as if it was made out of shaped glass? Or what about adding "mosaic patterns" as the background? Waves? Etc. All of this is possible using GLSL (which was used for the old blur plugin) so it should be doable by using multiple shaders and config options in the effect's entry in System Settings.

Oh I didn't see that there's already a similar idea in submitted.
Submitted means that idea was submitted to bug.kde.org and devs and is in process of deciding if the solution will be developed or not.
You can't vote on submitted ideas because they were already submitted to higher instance and are waiting to be developed.
Moving this idea to duplicates.
