in D3lphin (the unofficial port of Dolphin to KDE 3) there was a part of the Information Panel that had a list of available actions for a selected file, like in this linked screenshot: http://dobosevic.com/Vijesti_i_Novosti/ ... 3lphin.png .
other actions where open terminal here for folder, and also allowed you to open a folder as root. In the short time I used d3lphin, it seemed to have been very useful. Perhaps it could be added into Dolphin as a separate actions panel, instead of the information panel. It would make Dolphin even more useful then it already is in my opinion. What do you think? |

There are service menus...
But I agree. It would be useful.

Funny think. Dolphin was originally designed and released to KDE3. For some period of time, it had two branches - for KDE4 one and another for KDE4. Actually, there exists port of Dolphin into KDE3, which have additionally features!
I don't think, it was bad. I only think, that will be great topic for big article(about history of this program). I don't know how think about this program, which information are useful, etc.

I'd even say that if this idea is implemented, it should come with some default actions but that the panel should honor whatever service-menus are installed.

Open terminal here has always been available in Dolphin, certainly from KDE SC 4.0. You'll find it under Tools, with the keyboard shortcut Shift+F4.
