This is a really simple idea. Add some sort of filter to the current folder (just the current directory) that would show only the files that match your filter. The the thing that gave me this idea was Amarok's filter playlist feature.
So, you could select the filters name, date modified, and type, type in "png", and -ta-da!-, Dolphin only shows files named png or of type png. You could also type in "May 01, 2008" and get all files named that or modified then. You could also just type "May, 2008" and get all files last modified in May of 2008. Anyways, it would be super effective for finding stuff in cluttered directories and probably wouldn't be too hard to implement (maybe). |

For filenames, that is already possible. Hit ctrl-i and start typing is all that's required.
The rest isn't though (as far as I know), so approved.
