Hello,
I think my idea is a bit crazy, please take a look... Web browser is the first program I turn on and the last I close. Presumably most of the users never turn off their browser while working on their computers. The web browser should be the main part of desktop environment then! Screenshots are based on Opera since it inspired me. Screenshot1 The upper panel contains both programs and websites together. Side panels are well known to everyone who ever used Opera. Kontact is based on similar idea though it needs whole window. URL bar is the main part, but work on it is already done! All we need here is KRunner. Screenshot2 Here we can see traditional program opened as a tab and the other not maximized on top of that (the window is actually empty due to my lack of graphics abilities). Notice that if the tab panel was moved to bottom of the screen, the whole idea is reduced to:
Obviously my object is only to share this little vision. I wish you'd find it worth commenting. |

I have marked this invalid since there appear to be at least 4 different independent ideas here:
A new tab-like task manager with close buttons A new desktop containment One or more plasmoids for the side bar or side bars A new task manager plasmoid that integrates konqueror/rekonq/arora tabs with tasks Maybe a standalone konqueror/rekonq/arora tabs plasmoid These ideas very well may have merit, but none of them seem depend on one another. It would be very much appreciated if you could break them into separate threads. Thank you. As for your idea about having one "tab" per web page, in the new thread I would appreciate if you specified what the advantage is in this approach over just having a separate window for each web page (which would require no changes to the task manager).

Man is the lowest-cost, 150-pound, nonlinear, all-purpose computer system which can be mass-produced by unskilled labor.
