Enhancements
1. Get the notification system to get the name of the sender of an email. 2. Provide a slick 'slide' animation, having it pop up instantly breaks the appearance of KDE. 3. If I am talking to someone through Kopete, and this person posts a lot of sentences, a quarter of my screen is taken up by them. I recommend that Kopete updates notifications, instead of creating new ones. This could be limited by forcing the notification to stop 'updating' when more then three sentences are detected (as detected by the presence of a full-stop.) or simply by limiting the number of words. 4. Allow automatic resizing of the notification. Currently, the desktop notifications have three bugs which hamper their usabilty. 1. Too much text will just disappear off the side of the page or overrun into the notifcations (like attempting to transfer a file with a large name will cause the text to appear over the progress bar) Solution; make notification pop-ups re-sizable (as stated in Enhancement 4.)

This thread consist of more than one idea and has therefore been marked as invalid. Please consider posting them as separate threads.
Also, 2. is already implemented in KDE 4.3 (the popup slides out). 3. has been improved by grouping notifications, e.g. when you copy lots of files, but I don't know if it applies to Kopete notifications. |
