This idea comes to me after I saw linux.com website for linux.com email address.

My idea is to give kde.org email address for everyone who wants it provided he/she must pay $100 annually. By that way, we will encourage more kde fan to donate.

the kde.org email does not need to be complicated service. Just forwarding service.

what do you think ?

I've approved the idea, but I'm pretty sure it'll be rejected. The @kde.org mail can be abused because people could have the impression that one speaks for the entire KDE project when having such a mail address, and if I recall correctly it has happened in the past.

For this reason there's kdemail instead.

That is because @kde.org was restricted to the developers and contribution only. But if we make it clear that @kde.org it just a way to support KDE e.V. only, then the problem will disappear.

We need to learn from linux foundation how the manage this thing. They give @linux.com to every one, just pay $99 and you will get one.

We need to be open a little bit in this issue. I think the benefit for this idea overcomes its risk.

I don't know who controls kde.com

I think that kde.org is also available for contributors given that at least two holders of kde.org addresses support the request. This is implicitly true for e.V. members because their membership application has already had support from 3 members.

Anyway. The Linux Foundation offering is not even remotely similar, otherwise they would be giving out linux-foundation.org addresses, but they also keep those for their members only.
