KDE 4 is very slow than KDE 3.
KDE 4 runs extremely slow on computers where KDE 3 works without problems (even GNOME is faster than KDE 4, I am using it for this problem).

- An important example: In KDE 4 Dolphin is very slow, Konqueror takes less time to load. Improve their performance, please (or at least load an instance of it, like Thunar in Xfce).
- Another example: The start-up of the desktop environment (after KDM login, of course): extremely slow.

It isn't a problem with my distro or with my computer, I tried it in different distros (enabling and disabling KWin's effects) and computers with the same result.
In a quad-core computer with DDR2 memory, KDE 4's performance begins to be acceptable. In slower machines it is desperating.

Result: Can't recommend and install KDE 4 to the users, they must use GNOME or the fast Windows XP.

Please, fix this problem for KDE 4.4, I don't like GNOME (hardly has anything options and it is slow compared with KDE 3).

This idea doesn't have a solution and is thus marked Invalid.

As for loading an instance of Dolphin when KDE starts, there's already an idea about it.
