problem: a lot of people complain about notifications.
details: some do not like them hanging around long enough, some find them too big, some too small, for some they stay too long on top of windows, for some others they disappear to early. Its hard to make it right for everyone.

solution: why not place notifications as a dynamic plasmoid on the desktop?
detail: with dynamic i mean, the plasmoid appears when a notification is triggered and disappears after some time or when i click it away. til then it hangs around in a free space on the desktop.

reasons why this might be a good thing:
- notifications can stay there (background usually) in all their size and all possible information they offer until they are ready and clicked away or closed automatically after some time.
- they are not over some windows too long or too short, however they are accessible by bringing plasma-desktop to the foreground anytime i am interested in the information they offer.
- they can lay around there till kingdome come, or until i find time and intention to deal with them.
- if i want to follow them closely i just minimize all windows or bring the plasma-desktop to foreground and can do that for as long as i want

what do you think?

You just have to place the systray into your panel and notifications will be displayed as Plasmoids. You can also place them on the desktop, but it is not really useful. For the features you mention we would need additional controlling-options.
