Hi everyone
Kwin would automaticly adjust window position/size depending on current 'mode'. I suggest having 2 or 3 'modes' that could be changed with hotkeys; a 'file browsing' mode and a 'web browsing mode' etc. Kwin could use the current mode to determine which apps have higher importance and adjust the position/size accordingly. It would basicly eliminate the need to manualy move windows around, as it would all be done automaticly. I got this idea from reading http://labs.trolltech.com/blogs/2005/08/03/some-basic-thoughts-about-kde-4/ I think we could implement what the paper says under the 'Window management' section. I think it would be a huge +1 for KDE |

you may be right about the last sentence but when i think of configuring modes that will "decide" for me how to scale and position a window for me - i suddenly find the "doing it by hand" way very attractive .. it is not only complicated, i think it is completely impossible to decide the right window size and position.. (maybe for 10% of the cases it would)
when i think common multitasking while watching tv my kaffeine window will stay at the same place with the same size for 5 minutes maximum.. maybe a static "save window size and position" option would be better.. so one can choose between 2 or 3 fixed configuriations.. like the "workspace" option in adobe premiere (if someone knows that)
