We should be able to set HTML page as Wallpaper.
This would make our desktop quite interactive. |

Just like in Windows 98, eh?

If it was available in Windows 98, then I am really curious to know why is it not available in today's modern systems? |

Because nobody actually used it? It was also really unstable and unsafe. It was called active desktop or something like that... Edit: Wikipedia link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Active_Desktop

There is a web browser plasmoid included on KDE. Maybe someone could write a desktop containment from it, but to be honest I cannot see the point on a "html desktop". Of course, as far as there is an option, there is no problem.

Also if you read the wikipedia link I provided you can see that it was depreciated by sidebar and now widgets in Windows. So plasma is the "third generation" of the main idea of html wallpaper.
You can have the web widget on the desktop already. But RGB's solution would be also good, if this is really needed.

KDE3 also had this, if I remember correctly. I agree with RGB that a containment ("desktop type", like Desktop and Folder View) makes more sense.

I have already voted +ve for ANG wallpaper. Actually because of this only, the idea of HTML wallpaper came to my mind! |
