first of all its very confusing.. i have two desktops and one activity.. then i link desktops and activities in systemsettings
(Desktop > multiple desktops > "Different activity for each desktop")

and when i zoom out now (activity overview) there are THREE activities now... what the ****?

i think the zoom out function is completely unnecessary when desktops and activities are linked - therefore the (+ zoom out) funktion should be hidden and stop confusing users..

I think the ZUI is still being worked on.

As far as I can make out, you had 2 desktops, so it added 2 more activities.

If the ZUI is hidden, how do you expect people to manage activities? By visualising how many they have?

why would there be a need to manage activities when you turn them of by linking them to desktops?

you can configure your desktop by switching to it (with pager for example) and then do what ever you want with it..

having desktops AND activities is just confusing.. i know lots of kde users and noone knows what to to with it..

linked activities with desktops should be default.. the other stuff is for geeks like me (even i don't really like the usability of this concept)

the ZUI (zoomable user interface) was kicked out for 4.5
and the activities will be rewised for 4.5, too.

As far as I know in the future there will only be activities left, so there also won't be the feature to link desktops and activities (because they're one).

Yay!

I was going to post an idea suggesting something like this, the whole Activities + Workspaces is the biggest thing that annoys me in KDE, it's a giant mess.
