Use Html with webkit to render notepads, allowing more formatting options (Lists, tables, outlines, checkboxes...)

Or just add those features with native qt widgets.

Use html formatting in notepads

I'm sorry, what "notepad"? Do you meant the post-it note widget, KJots, KWrite or Kate?

I mean the plasma-widget notepad. It would be kind of cool if kate did it too.

OK, approved. I'm voting your idea down though because I believe in the simplicity of such a notepad widget. More complex notes can be done in an application like KJots, KBasket, or the such.

At that point I would probably just crack open an office app. Like Moult said, it's making something simple horribly complicated. I've always pictured the notepad as a tool I use to very quickly jot something down - mine rarely goes past a phone number, name or a link. I don't even use the formatting options it has 90% of the time.

Hmm, well this is all fine and good commentary, but I was just thinking it would be nice to have a sort of all purpose note taking widget that could eventually interface with basKet or the like. So, you could have all of that functionality if you wanted, but on the surface it would still be good old notepad. Of course, I always wanted better outline support from basKet as well (standard lettering scheme, support for keystroke indentation, etc). It's true that wouldn't really be in keeping with the spirit of the notepad though. Maybe I'll make a new and reformed idea.

If you wanted that, it should be a completely new widget which is meant to connect with more complex notes apps like Basket.
