December 19th 2010 : First Run
NOTE : MOZAIC MEANS TILING MODE Hello everyone, I come here to post a new idea. The concept is, transforming that in that Sorry for image size but this forum does not accept to large images In fact you would be able to select the windows you want to put in tiling mode, it would be pleasent when you have to do a directed work in mathematic for example, you have the pdf document at one side and XCas on the other, you don't have to switch windows, you have all you need at eye range. here's a little explanation Just right click on a window - Select "Put in mozaic in tiling with..." - Select in the task bar the windows you want, or why not select directly windows by clicking on it ? - Click on the "Validate" button TO THINK -The screen must be splited in function of window numbers selected -The displayed windows must be the highest as it is possible Here, you have a free space and now you haven't got any wasted space - User can move the windows as he want, the screen could be splited and then he would be able to drag and drop the windows into the boxes Here is a little drawing and after draging and drop, you have this Then press ENTER Improvment will come soon don't hesitate to contact me if you have ideas David.

How is this different than the tiling window manager already in kwin?

I never found such features in kwin exept for the window selector (activated with ALT+TAB
To my mind, the advantage is having all the windows you want displayed at the same time without needing switch and waste time. david. PS : If this feature already exists, please tell how to use it

Open system settings/personal settings -> window behavior -> window behavior -> advanced -> enable tiling, then set default tiling layout to either spiral or columns.

I'm not sure what you mean, once it is activated it should work automatically.

Are you sure you didn't set the mode to floating? Try pressing alt+shift+F11. Are you using compiz or kwin for desktop effects?

I think columns is closer to what you are suggesting.
Are you using compiz or kwin for desktop effect?

If you keep adding windows they should automatically be incorporated into the tiling.

When I lose the focus in a windows, it goes to the backward plan and i'm unable to put my window in mosaic...
It looks not so easy to use... david.

I'm not that familiar with it, you should ask for help elsewhere in the forums. But it is called "tiling" not "mosaic". If you ask people about "mosaic" no one is going to know what you are talking about.
