Currently, if I have a dual screen setup and want to setup a dual screen wallpaper (there are many cool ones you can find online) I have to manually split and assign each split file to each screen. This is annoying and cumbersome.

The desktop settings dialog should allow the wallpaper to span multiple screens.

Also, the desktop settings dialog's content is different depending on which screen you right click. This is another usability minus. The dialog should be unique and allow to customize both screens from the same instance of the dialog.

And it should be merged with krandr. Doesn't make much sense to open krandr to customize screen resolution but the desktop settings dialog to customize aesthetics.

These are separate ideas (wallpaper to span multiple screens; same dialog for both screens; merge with krandr) and should be posted as such.

I'm pretty sure that the "span wallpaper across multiple screens" idea has been posted before. The reason why it's the way it is is because each screen has its own Plasma containment (the thing that draws the background and contains the widgets on the desktop). There are many different reasons for this, for example, what if the screens have different resolution, or if one screen is detached? It also allows you to have different Desktop Types/Layouts for the two screens. So one "hackish" way to span the wallpaper across screens would be to split the image and set the background of the containments accordingly.

I think aseigo has written more about this, but unfortunately I can't find the blog post at the moment.

Please only post one idea per thread. This is three different ideas. The first one is impossible as-written, although it would be possible to make a wallpaper plug-in that lets you set the part of the wallpaper you want to view, which would produce the same effect, so please post a new idea about that. The second one is impossible based on how the desktops are structured, so if you post an idea about that it will be closed as WONTFIX. The third one is valid as-is, so please post a separate new idea containing only it.
