Ark is an default archiver for KDE but it is quite poor in features. It doesn't give possibility to change compression level or to set a password. It cannot create multiple files archives (split archives). Such big and serious environment like KDE just must have a full featured archiver.

Not an idea, more like a bug report. Please submit it to bugs.kde.org

Note that requests such as "more love for x" or "more developers working on y" are generally not valid. Instead, it's better to report specific bugs and and request features, such as "Make it possible to set a password in Ark" (I'm pretty sure it's been posted on http://bugs.kde.org before, though).

I must agree with previous comments. I just wanted to mention the problem. Since KDE 4.0 nothing changed in ark. Maybe there some bug reports but but what of it? Nothing has changed. No work has been done. It looks like bug reporting is useless. It's only waste of time.

It sometimes is a waste of time, sometimes not.
It would be better to come up with specific ideas you'd like to see implemented. As previously said 'more love' doesn't raise anyone's brows |

There is also only one person currently working on ark.
Man is the lowest-cost, 150-pound, nonlinear, all-purpose computer system which can be mass-produced by unskilled labor.
