using Bluetooth to open a door

Thu Nov 03, 2011 12:20 am
Hello all. I am looking for a way to control a switch with bluetooth using kubuntu/ubuntu. The idea is what when the proper input is given to the laptop, a separate piece of hardware will receive a bluetooth signal and trigger a switch which will open a small door.

But it all boils down to button a is pressed on laptop, door a opens on shelf. It has been asked of me that this be done with Linux and I would like to get some input from more experienced programers and users as to how to go about this. I would really like to have this running on kubuntu 10 and I am resricting myself to this OS for my project.

Any advice or ideas? Thanks.

The brainstorm forum is for submitting specific idea proposals to improve KDE and not for this. Please repost this in the proper section.
