Normaly I don't need the window decoration, because I will use the shortcards.
Is it possible to resize the height of the decoration? And why is the decoration on the top of the window? When I habe a tiny screen, I would like to integrate the close button into the panel and when I have a widescreen (every new screen) I'd like to see the decoration on the left side of the window. Can you make the decoration more flexible? top / bottom / right / left or integrated into the pannel |

There is a plasmoid called active window control that incorporates minimize, maximize and close.
But I would like to see a movable windows deco to. Like this: http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.ph ... tent=96561

¿Que? Anyhoo, vertical window captions are important for l10ns to languages that read top-to-bottom (or maybe even -shudder- bottom-up?) |

There are two brainstorms here. One is for window decorations, and the other is to put window actions in the panel
The first category is decoration specific. It will be far too much work to integrate all of the ideas into all of the decorations. But there's no reason individual decorations can't incorporate some or all of them. For example, the plastik decoration already has resizable borders and titlebars. As for the second, it's a very good idea. Combined with the upcoming desktop menubar, it means we don't even need titlebars anymore. (Personally I would still want them, but choices and options are always good to have).
Don't look back! (Or you might see the giants whose shoulders we stand on)

Didn't noticed this part. As Brandybuck pointed out this already is possible in some windows decorations so the idea that we're voting here is actually only title bars on the side.

Primoz, please do not mistake other peoples votes. Probably you voted only for title bars on the side, I voted for the whole concept, making window decorations more flexible with all suggestions from the thread opener.

Well problem is that we allow one idea per thread. And other parts of this idea are already implemented. Windows decoration height is implemented in Crystal decoration (and probably some others) The close/minimize/maximize buttons is available through active window control. So only idea that was not implemented is the title bar on left/right/top/bottom side of windows. But as it was pointed out this would be problem with title which on left/right side would be vertical which isn't a solution for some languages. So I guess a viable solution would be something like this mock-up.

For now give no decorations a try:
Window Behavior=>Window-Specific=>New rule, everything unimportant, force no border optional results in each app: hide menubar, Ctrl+M seem quite nice.. i'd like to try KDE like this but instead with a decoration that only provides an appealing border of only a few pixels wide on all sides...[edit:nevermind, Crystal = sweetness)

+1 for the desktop menubar part.
Is this "upcoming" desktop menubar separate to the Bespin Style and XBar? |
