The help documentation can be directly shown in the kde help browser as offline wiki...

Any updates on this, this needs a decision from whole KDE team, if implemented it will drastically improve the kde documentation, making KDE one of the most documented open-source project...

Wikis are great for keeping up-to-date documentation!

Why don't keep wiki in English for community documentation, and freeze it periodically (say, monthly), creating an "official" version, to let translators localizing it in their languages?

Great idea. I don't think it should freeze. Just let it grow.

I'm not sure that documentation that "just grow" is a good idea.

Sometimes you need to stop new contents to reorganize the current contents, and give them a more coherent structure and language.
KDE3 documentation was good because of this coherence.

Maybe we just need to try and see if this way of doing things works as expected.

Well, maybe both ways might be combined.

I mean: when freezing the current content, just move it to another site, so there it can be adapted and fully translated for a KDE release. But let the original site wiki to grew meanwhile.

We are experimenting with this on UserBase at the moment. One problem is that all the content of a page has to be edited first to meet http://userbase.kde.org/Typographical_Guidelines after which docbooks can be produced. If you have any spare time to help with this it would be greately appreciated. - even if you only manage part pages

I guess I'll join the Userbase team. Hopefully in the future we can have a wiki-based amazingly-complete KDE documentation.
