A somewhat silly detail I miss from when I was using compiz is the possibility to disable effects for individual applications or windows.
For example, I like to have a couple of fully transparent konsole windows (without window decorations) on my desktop for running top etc. For this to work properly with kwin I have to disable the shadow effect completely or I get a fuzzy grey rectangle instead of a transparent window.

Also if you are using watching TV with Kaffeine and browsing with Firefox/Konqueror the Kaffeine window it's "dark" as all inactive windows.
Another solution could be to set windows as active if there are video running in it. Thanks! |

I had a look at the thread. There is a tip about using a dcop call to disable shadows but that is deprecated as of KDE4, right?. Is there something similar in dbus? |
