[Amarok] Full cuesheet support

Sat Apr 25, 2009 7:41 am
Amarok is missing full cuesheet support (just like foobar2000 in Windows). It means that the album is stored in one file (in my case ogg file) and tracks are stored in one cuesheet file. Amarok would read all tracks from cuesheet file and display them as separate songs.

I think a lot of users that have music with cuesheets are forced to use foobar2000 under Wine.

This functionality should be added absolute priority. This is a very bad situation, when the software for MS Windows has no good equivalent for GNU/Linux.

Even in 1.x cuesheets are not supported as one would expect. You can play file on basis of cuesheet, but the album is not collapsible, which means you cannot select the song in the album. At the end, it is very poor support.

As I mentioned foobar2000 is very good example of cuesheet support.

foobar2000 is very good example of what music player should be. It is a pity it is not opensource and not linux oriented.

I like Amarok very much. Especially version 2.2 looks very cool.

But I am still missing full cuesheet support. I have found found some discussions about full cuesheet support that were written in 2006. I think there is quite a big group of people that would be happy if Amarok could fully support cuesheets.

Umm, what are cuesheets? How are they different from playlists? O.o

Thank you very much for your tip. Unfortunately qmmp is missing some (for me) important features like cover art and lyrics (from this point of view Amarok is much better). But I am very glad that cue sheet support is making its way into Linux environment.

Maybe it will be very good motivation for Amarok team and they will start to consider to implement better cue sheet support in Amarok.

Does anyone know some developer that would be willing to implement full cuesheet support in Amarok?

I am not a developer, but I would like help with testing and use cases.

Unfortunately a new version of Amarok (2.2.2) still has no cue support in the collection manager.

Does anyone know whether it is planned feature for some future releases?
