Hi! I was thinking about what Konqueror looks like with the Oxygen style, and I decided that some things are kind of wrong. Here's my idea how it could be improved, the first screenshot shows Konqueror with Oxygen as it looks now, and the second one is my idea:

I've in-lined the pictures.

I assume the "icon doesn't look good" refers specifically to it being rendered on top of the widget whan it should appear under the glowing border? Yes I have thought that for some time also. This effects a few applications and not just konqueror. I think it probably should be submitted as a bug; the sunken page, a wish.

@TheBlackCat, could you please undo that inlining? The pictures take a lot of space on the Brainstorm front page.
Oh, and the Bespin widget engine (is that the official name for such a subsystem like Bespin, Oxygen etc?) has a hack that adds a frame around the Konqueror window contents, which essentially creates the "shadow" you're after. I have to agree with the OP; the frame in Konqueror really looks weird. The Bespin hack makes Konqueror look like this: And isn't the icon issue only with the Google icon, because it doesn't have a transparent background? It's hard to tell whether that's the reason or not. |

The icons are a graphical glitch; the shadows are a nice feature. I don't think these would take much to implement at all...

I've just noticed something quite strange. I'm using Konqueror with the GTK+ style Aurora Smooth now, and it looks awesome. The Oxygen style in most other KDE apps looks really nice as well. But, for some reason, Konqueror with the Oxygen style looks rather ugly to me, it seems that they don't really mix well together.

The address line border being broken by the icon is a bug IMHO.

I hadn't really noticed it, but I like the ideas in the mockups in the OP

About the favicon problem. It is a bug with Oxygen style and it is not intended to be fixed (at least for now). I don' remember the bug number but it has already been reported on bugzilla.
