I would like to see proper support for mice with more than three buttons implemented, as well as (while not as important) side-scrolling. There is a large amount of media mice available on the market that have extra multimedia buttons - most commonly, two buttons (back and forward) on the side. Manual configuration IS tedious and can be time-consuming.

I would agree, but in the mean time there are a few projects that I think might help

Please do a search before posting an idea to make sure it hasn't already been submitted. This is probably the most-duplicated idea on KDE brainstorm, one of the first ideas posted, and a wishlist item that has been submitted numerous times to bugs.kde.org.
